Map who actually works on site
List the roles present across the day and night, including cleaning, catering, maintenance, security and diagnostic support. Identify which organisation supervises each group and who handles local safety concerns. Avoid assuming that a contractor’s general induction explains this hospital’s layout or emergency procedure. Confirm responsibilities with the relevant employers.
Provide the same essential local information
Every worker needs to know how to request immediate assistance, where to report a concern and how to obtain a response. Use understandable languages and practical demonstrations. Include workers who do not routinely use email or the staff intranet. Keep the process available when their direct supervisor is off-site.
Follow concerns across organisational boundaries
Agree who acknowledges a report, investigates the relevant issue and communicates practical action. Do not send the worker repeatedly between the hospital and contractor without an identified owner. Keep private information appropriately restricted. Review whether contract workers are represented in safety discussions and whether changes reach the shifts on which they work.
