Search terms to keep handy

Use a recent-date filter for discovery, then read the original publication. Search names only in relation to the reported case, with spelling variants where needed.

A short daily checking routine

  1. Morning: scan local and legal reporting for new developments. Keep the title, publisher, original URL, publication time and incident date.
  2. After a hearing: look for the signed court order. A reported oral remark, a bail decision and a final finding are different things.
  3. Evening: check for police or association statements, corrections and the other party’s response. Update the existing story when its status changes.
  4. Weekly: review unanswered questions, upcoming hearings and government or professional notices. Assign a named editor to the follow-up.

Before an update goes on the website

Check who is making each claim, what the source actually supports, and whether the image or clip belongs to the same incident. A second article repeating the first is not independent corroboration. Do not label someone guilty from a complaint, arrest or social-media post.

Association statements record the association’s position. X, Instagram and forwarded messages are leads to check; trace them to the original speaker and supporting records. Avoid publishing patient details or unrelated private information.

For MARD, FORDA and FAIMA statements, verify the account through the association or institution before relying on a social profile. Some official portals require JavaScript or a CAPTCHA; use their normal access process.

The private incident register has a separate committee approval process. News discovery does not add names to it automatically.

Source documents, photographs and publisher websites remain in their original language. Directory names and addresses are retained as published.
